Traditionally regarded as one of the most conservative forms of financing, our panel will discuss the use and benefits of invoice financing and its evolution from working capital tool to structured financed product. Topics will include the risk profile of invoice financing for supplier, buyer, and funder, the legal challenges involved with invoice financing, use (and abuse) of credit insurance in invoice financing and digitization and how to make invoice financing work for you. Speakers include Michael Sugirin, Managing Director, Global Head, Open Account Trade at Standard Chartered Bank; Sean Edwards Chairman of International Trade & Forfaiting Association, Senior Executive Director, Head of Legal - EMEA SMBC Bank International PLC and Abhay Narkar, Regional Head of Structured Credit & Political Risks, APAC at Coface. Live Masterclass: Incoterms® 2020

Online

The Incoterms® 2020 rules are the ICC's official interpretations of the eleven most commonly-used trade terms in both international and domestic transactions. While they explain the contractual obligations, risks and costs involved, there is much more that sellers and buyers, their transport professionals, their insurers and their bankers need to know about them. The practical applications of the rules in any number of circumstances are not usually discussed by trainers. For example, up till now no-one has really looked at the application of each rule for the different modes of transport, the documents involved and their compatibility with letters of credit. However, our trainer, Bob Ronai, one of only three non-lawyers on the ICC Incoterms® 2020 Drafting Group, will explain them to you in detail in this two-day live online training on 27-28 May.

SPONSORSHIP

For the fifth year in a row, Singapore is both the top Asia-Pacific nation and second only to Switzerland in the overall rankings. With a consistently good performance – it ranks in the top two in seven out of the 12 pillars – the country’s strengths include the efficiency of its goods, labour, and financial markets, and its globally top-ranked higher education and training system.

Besides regional visibility in this highly important APAC region, ICC Academy’s events will also provide access to the exclusive ICC global network of contacts and a new kind of a partnership experience. Companies are continually approached with sponsorship proposals offering unique opportunities to network, interact and promote their products and services. As an indication of the size of this market, in 2015, sponsorship was a 60 billion US dollar industry. Within this rapidly growing and complex ecosystem, it is getting more difficult to select a unique value proposition that suits each company. We at the ICC Academy acknowledge that, and do want to offer you something fresh and something specially for you. Of course, we won’t leave behind some of the traditional things (let’s be honest, sometimes you have to accept that the wheel has been already invented and it works well), but we do want to discuss what best suits your interests and budget from the new formats of sponsorship we can offer.
