ICC Academy refreshes flagship trade finance certificates

Singapore, 28 September: The educational arm of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), the ICC Academy, has refreshed its flagship trade finance certifications – the Global Trade Certificate (GTC) and Certified Trade Finance Professional (CTFP). The changes provide professionals with access to the latest industry developments from ICC’s roster of international experts, in addition to new interactive features and a more streamlined learning experience.

The professional certifications, which sees participants from over 170 countries, is aimed at finance professionals who want to develop the skills needed to sell, deliver and process global trade finance solutions.

Commenting on the refreshed curriculum and programmes, ICC Academy General Manager Daniel Kok said: “Since the pandemic, the educational needs of trade finance professionals have evolved. Not only have their learning needs, habits and preferences changed but business have also realized the importance of upskilling and reskilling their workforce to operate more effectively and efficiently in this new and emerging business landscape.”

“This fall update reflects ICC’s commitment to making business work for everyone, every day, everywhere,” added Mr Kok.

Discussing the content developments, Senior Global Consultant on Trade Finance at Raiffeisen Bank International and author of ICC Academy’s Guarantees e-course Andrea Hauptmann, said: “We are delighted to have updated a section of the Guarantees e-course on the ICC Uniform Rules for Demand Guarantees 758 (URDG). The International Standard Demand Guarantee Practice (ISDGP) is an indispensable companion of URDG 758, representing international best practices in demand guarantees. It supplements, but does not amend, the URDG. The 215 international standard practices, available within the publication, offer guidance as to how the URDG are to be applied regardless of the applicable (non-mandatory) law. It is advisable that the publication be read in conjunction with URDG 758.”

Bolstered by new innovations, the 2021 fall update includes:

  • formative assessment features to monitor learning and offer feedback
  • the autonomy to skip lessons, depending on learners focus areas
  • summaries, and quizzes within each lesson
  • refreshed links, visuals, and graphics
