ICC Academy teams up with Saudi Exports to build skills in export sector

Singapore, 29 April: The ICC Academy has announced a strategic partnership with Saudi Arabia’s government conglomerate, the Saudi Exports Development Authority (Saudi Exports). The agreement aims to equip 300 employees from 110 of the country’s national enterprises with the knowledge required to manage international businesses and effectively trade worldwide.

Starting as of May 2019, employees will be trained using the ICC Academy’s international training model and digital learning platform. Their focus will be on the Export/Import Certification (EIC), which includes five e-courses that cover a wide range of subjects —from financing and international transactions and contracts to logistics and global business management.

Speaking on the partnership, ICC Academy General Manager Daniel Kok said: “We are delighted to join forces with Saudi Exports in honing local businesses understanding of global trade. In today’s ever-evolving international trade landscape, companies are choosing to invest in their workforce and cultivate talent-rich environments. We look forward to working closely with Saudi Exports to meet their skillset requirements by enhancing their employee expertise in cross border transactions. This, in turn, will help expand competencies throughout the export sector in the country.”

Under Saudi Vision 2030, the Saudi government is implementing a series of measures to help boost the non-oil sector growth. These fiscal policies include initiatives to help accelerate growth in the private sector and attract foreign direct investment through an approved 200 billion-riyal stimulus programme.

Commenting on the collaboration, Saudi Exports Project Manager Abdulrahman Alotaibi said: “Guided by the Saudi Vision 2030, Saudi Exports is committed to supporting local businesses to increase competitiveness. We want local enterprises to gain expertise in how to promote their products internationally and understand the barriers that hinder them. To achieve this, we are looking at investing in the human capital of our export sector.

The ICC Academy’s EIC programme comes in response to the growing needs of local enterprises to build the capabilities of their employees. It reflects the prompt efforts of Saudi Exports to equip these enterprises with export skills and knowledge to enhance their competencies in international markets. The certification holds considerable significance for the kingdom, considering that development of human competencies in the areas of management, international marketing, supply chain and trade finance is crucial for Saudi enterprises looking to go global.” said Mr Alotaibi.
