Singapore, 1 November 2017: The International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) Academy is set to provide a suite of its globally-recognised online training courses to bolster capacity of DB Schenker Logistics staff as a result of a signed partnership agreement.
The German logistics leader has recently built a facility in South Africa. To optimise performance at the new site, 120 staff members will receive in-depth, practical knowledge on export and import transactions, as well as gain expertise on how to best manage international business thanks to the ICC Academy’s Export/Import Certification (EIC) and easy-to-use digital training platform.
Commenting on the collaboration, ICC Academy General Manager Daniel Kok said: “ICC Academy is proud to bring world-class learning opportunities to DB Schenker Logistics employees. This partnership aligns with our global strategy to boost competencies to both individuals and organisations, allowing them to stay competitive and, at the same time, educate the industry at a large.”
According to the World Bank’s 2016 Logistics Performance Index, South Africa is considered one of the most promising countries in the region when it comes to transport and logistics—ranking 20 out of the 160 countries globally. However, education and skills shortages remain an ever-present challenge.
DB Schenker Logictics representative said: “We firmly believe in filling in the knowledge gap by providing professional training to our employees. This will help them gain a competitive edge in the market place and allow them to better adapt to the changing requirements of their stakeholders.”
