2019: ICC Academy’s year in review

Singapore, 15 January:  As 2020 kicks into gear, we’re taking a moment to look back on the seven ways we helped traders in 2019 adapt to and excel in today’s fast-paced global economy. From launching new certificates for businesses operating across borders to sharing insights from international leading experts and broadcasting ICC Livecasts, to the rolling out of a dedicated scholarship programme and hosting our annual flagship event—2019 was a big year for the ICC Academy, the educational arm of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC).

Join us in ringing in 2020, which marks our 5th anniversary, by taking a look at our top highlights from last year.

  1. We expanded our global footprint

Last year, we increased our reach with professionals in over 130 countries who participated in our e-courses and certificate programmes. What’s more, we’ve been listening to your feedback and are doing even more to help you power up your expertise with the latest best practices—we received a 99% positive rating in 2019.

  1. We designated new categories to our certificates

As our training catalogue expands, we decided to divide our certificates and e-courses into three categories based on key themes to ensure that our audience are finding the programmes in the easiest way possible. These core areas include trade finance; international business; and regulations and compliance

  1. We launched a variety of new trainings to enhance trade skills worldwide

As the world continues to change, so does the way we work. That is why we launched six certificates and e-courses throughout the year to help professional keep up-to-date: Incoterms® 2020 Certificate (English and Spanish), ICC Incoterms® Trainer Exam, E-Invoicing Solutions Certificate, Microfinance Associate Certificate, Free Trade Agreements Certificate, Bills of Lading Certificate, and finally the Islamic Banking and Finance e-course.

  1. We discussed SCF best practices at our SCF Summit

Our flagship event, the Supply Chain Finance (SCF) Summit took place in Singapore . More than 300 professionals from across the SCF ecosystem attended, representing more than 10 countries. The 8th edition highlighted the latest industry trends and challenges and discussed how to chart a path forward to reach future growth.

5.    We shared expert insight through 23 ICC Livecast episodes

In 2019, we live-streamed and recorded over 20 interactive Livecast sessions. Bringing the voice of experts directly to our 1,000 subscribers, we examined an array of topics—from the much-anticipated Incoterms® 2020 rules to climate change and maritime trade to artificial intelligence. Haven’t joined in yet, discover the full list of episodes.

6.    We developed a scholarship programme to ensure learning for all

In November, we rolled out a dedicated scholarship programme for students and professionals worldwide. The initiative offers an 80% bursary on the cost of our Global Trade Certificate, Certified Trade Finance Professional certificate and Export/Import Certificate. Ten scholarships have already been awarded to candidates from Cambodia, Mexico, Nigeria, Philippines, Sierra Leone, Italy and Pakistan.

7.    We introduced blended learning to create further opportunities

To provide customised learning solutions to leading businesses and organisations, we are now blending our online learning opportunities with face-to-face trainings. If you are looking to bring globally-recognised programmes—exclusively designed for teams and delivered at your place of work—please contact us.
