Commerzbank employees develop skills thanks to ICC Academy

Singapore, 4 January 2018: The ICC Academy has announced that it will be working in partnership with Commerzbank, a global banking and financial services company, to provide advanced-level trade finance certification to 40 employees across the Asia-Pacific region.

The initial phase will benefit front and middle office professionals, who will be offered access to the ICC Academy’s Certified Trade Finance Professional (CTFP). The advanced-level programme provides up-to-the-minute training and certification on key trade finance products and techniques, as well as compliance issues.

ICC Academy General Manager Mr Daniel Kok said: “In today’s global and technology-driven economy, raising educational standards is crucial to closing skills gaps and building talent pipelines. We look forward to working with Commerzbank to help its staff upgrade technical and operational skills. With ICC Academy’s advanced certification, the staff will be better equipped to advise clients, allowing them to have a competitive advantage in the marketplace.”

The Asia Development Bank’s 2017 Trade Finance Gaps, Growth, and Jobs Survey estimates that the level of unmet demand for trade finance is USD$1.5 trillion, of which 40% originates in Asia and the Pacific.

The partnership is one of many relationships and steps the ICC Academy has taken to deliver state-of-the-art global trade education as a means of broadening access to finance and contributing to economic growth around the world.
