The International Maritime Bureau (IMB) estimates from its work in verifying Bills of Lading that over 95% of all improperly issued Bills of Lading are issued by Non-Vessel Owning Common Carriers (NVOCCs).
This online course aims to raise standards and reliability of maritime trade for active NVOCCs and their trading partners operating in the global market.
The programme is built for:
- Non-Vessel Owning Common Carriers (NVOCC) staff wanting to build an understanding of NVOCC bill of lading issuances, either to sign up for the International Maritime Bureau (IMB) NVOCC Registry or as part of a staff training programme;
- NVOCCs currently facing suspension from the IMB NVOCC Registry;
- Related stakeholders in banks, actual carriers, cargo owners and other general traders as part of staff training and awareness building initiatives
The online course covers everything from the basics of trade logistics to recognising the importance of bills of lading in international trade. Candidates will learn about the documents and processes required to properly issue a bill of lading. Additionally, the course will help candidates understand the critical role bills of lading play in the trading chain; how banks, ship owners and cargo owners rely on them; and what must be done to comply with best practices and regulations.
